10 Classic Imports for Under 20K

“If you’re like me then one of your favorite pass times is chewing up miles on the road to nowhere. What I mean by that is, you love going out for a drive just because you enjoy the actual emotions that driving brings. For some it’s the action of rowing through the gears, for others it’s the feeling of the wind in their hair, and yet for others it’s simply a great departure from the rigors of everyday life. Owning a classic car is luxury that most people think is way out of their reach.”

Comparison | 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI vs 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

www.autorivals.net

When Subaru redid the WRX STI in 2008 as a wagon, it was a colossal disappointment that threatened to kill off one of the greatest rivalries among sports cars. I can't even imagine how many WRX fans were as disappointed as I was. Don't get me wrong, wagons are the smart choice when choosing a practical vehicle for hauling people and stuff around. But for a performance car, it makes no sense especially when you consider that wagons never really caught on in America. Subaru seemed to be trying to appeal to a non-existent crowd while neglecting its loyal fan base. But now that the WRX STI sedan has returned for 2011, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution rivalry is back in full-swing.

Comparison | 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque vs 2011 BMW X6

www.autorivals.net

Let's be sensible for a minute. SUVs by design are inefficient for the road. They're big, heavy, and guzzle fuel. And if you listen to the media and environmental hippies, they kill trees, plants, and animals, melt the polar ice caps, and will one day be the cause of worldwide destruction. They also have less space than a minivan and handle much worse compared to sedans and stations wagons. But none of this really matters to an SUV buyer. And when you look at the typical owner who considers accidentally driving on the curb 'off-roading', they make no sense at all for them to own and drive an SUV in the first place. The only thing the modern SUV has going for it is style, and there is no better example of this than the new 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and 2011 BMW X6.

Feature | Design Dilemma: Are Car Designers Running Out of Ideas?

www.autorivals.net

“Is it me or does it seem like car designers are getting lazier or perhaps just running out of ideas. In either case, some models are becoming less original from one generation to the next. When you look at some particular manufacturers' models, there's less individualization and more replication. Granted there needs to be some resemblance across an automaker's lineup for brand distinction but it has gotten to a point where different models look like carbon copies. Some cars no longer need alphanumerical names, they just need sizes like small, medium, and large with the option of super-sizing in the form of long wheelbase versions.”
